In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Peoria County Election Commission is making extra effort to ensure the safety of voters by implementing new procedures and following new guidance to help reduce the spread of germs this Election Season.
These procedures will be implemented at all Early Voting locations and all Election Day Polling Places.
COVID-19 Safety Measures for the 2021 Consolidated Elections:
Election Judges and Staff are required to wear proper face coverings/face masks at all times. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to Election Judges and Staff. Voters are strongly encouraged to bring and wear their own face coverings at their polling locations. Some PPE will be available for voters if needed, but please note that the supply may be limited.
All entrances and exits to polling locations and the Election Commission Office will be clearly marked. Please follow the directional traffic as marked.
Social distancing markers will be placed on floors at all polling locations. Please remember to stand six (6) feet away from the party in front of you at all times while waiting in line. While lines may seem long when you arrive at your polling place, please note that social distancing does take up extra space. The lines may appear long, but Election Staff will be making every effort to keep the lines moving at a regular pace.
Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and protective finger coverings will be available for voters to use at all times. Voting booths and all surfaces will be disinfected regularly by Election Staff at all polling locations.
Voters are asked to please bring their own ink pens (blue or black ink) with them to their polling location. This will help reduce cross-contamination and will keep the lines at polling locations moving at a faster pace.
